that this Tabassum kid is going to be delivering a valedictorian speech (a) the thought that this may lead to violence would not even cross my mind, (b) I would not even remotely worry about the fact that potentially there would be a large Palestinian contingent in the ceremonies would not worry me, (c) if a counter group started yelling at her, and there is back and forth, I would not panic (not until guns are fired), (d) I would assume that school security has this covered, and (e) it would not disturb me one bot that there was an incident of this sort at my kid's graduation, because this is real life and I personally think time spent on tightly scripted events where there is no room for unexpected bits to come up to be utterly, mind-numbingly boring.

These are college kids we're talking about, not grade schoolers or middle schoolers.

And I am not some guy who grew up in a bubble. I came of age at a time and a place where political violence was pervasive. I have my life experience to draw from so that I don't freak out the moment a young kid goes on a podium and talks about some genocide that's been dominating the news for the past 6 months.
