For which, at least with respect to the Bragg case, the answer is clearly not. Unless you believe it should be ok to invent novel legal theories to attempt to jail your party’s leading political opponent and to calculate the timing of the trial to coincide with the presidential election to maximize the political impact. I am definitely not ok with this and you shouldn’t be either. Recall that even most of the mainstream media outlets that swing hard left questioned the wisdom and fairness of this particular prosecution at the time of the indictments. Now that this trial appears to be the only one that will take place before the election those same outlets appear to be changing their tune. I wonder why?

Given that this farce was allowed to go to trial, the question is now how do we make it fair given the political dynamic? How about changing the venue so the case isn’t tried in a jurisdiction that voted 90% for Biden? Or, if you must keep the trial in Manhattan, how about limiting the jury pool to those registered as independents? Of course every indication is that Merchan, like Engoran, is not at all interested in fairness, but rather is onboard with assisting this political operation.
