Yes, coaches and players are well aware of the potential problems. coaches try to mitigate the potential problems, but no amount of preparation, trying to take preventative steps to help mitigate the effects of travel can totally erase any pitfalls. One just has to play it out and in the end hope for the best. You claiming at 20 to be able to hit 80% after a flight to and from Europe just sounds like a bunch of bombastic swagger. When I was 20 I could run all day but it wasn't infinite. The body, even at 20, has its limitations. Travel fatigue, without sufficient time to recuperate, will eventually show the effects. These athletes are in as close to ultimate fitness as can be expected. Even with that their legs will get tired from playing a game. Add to that travel fatigue and it's all exacerbated. Once an athlete's legs tire every aspect of his game is affected. It is notorious how free throw shooting is affected by fatigue.
