I could be wrong, but it seems like both Perry and Dailey genuinely like Cronin, based on their comments in press conferences. They’ve also had a measure of success this season, and they have to realize they’d be key pieces going into next year. That said, UCLA still needs to be competitive financially. Trent was noncommittal last year until the money lined up, and the same reality applies here. If the resources aren’t there to retain those guys, they won’t be there to bring in new ones either—so the whole conversation becomes moot.
Booker is a different situation. He may feel that the fit just isn’t right for him.
Just my opinion and speculation. No one really knows how this will play out.
