If I had to guess I would say a combination of blogs and mainstream media. What I can say is that upon Mara's departure to Spain my impression of the general consensus was that Mara is returning. I don't recall any dissenting voice saying it's all up in the air as to whether Mara returns or not. I didn't read everything on the subject at the time so maybe there were people saying it was all up in the air, but I don't remember hearing that as this all evolved. I've read some folks, after the fact, saying so, but not at the time. I way I heard Mara's "after the fact comments" after there were uncomfortable things being said was along the lines of revisionist history. Again, maybe I'm wrong but what you're saying about this is not how I remember all this. Regardless of all the particular specifics bandied about to and fro in the Mara situation, I think it's important to remember that a similar scenario was taking place at Illinois with Johnson and again Michigan.
