nonconference football games - we travel an awful lot as it is now, nonconference losses are killers if you want a chance to make the playoffs, etc etc. Assuming we still want to play one P4 nonconference opponent each year (which I think we do), realistically there are probably fewer than a dozen schools to choose from - Cal (unfortunately), Utah, BYU, Arizona, ASU, Colorado. Maybe the Texas/Oklahoma schools, but that's still a 3+ hour flight. (Stanford is locked in to Notre Dame each year and doesn't have room for us.)

I think this is the new normal going forward. Pretty much the same for (mens') basketball too - tournaments nearby, other area D1 schools, and the conference schedule.
