It's a question of having been asked to pay increasingly more for less. Sports is about entertainment, and if you are paying a lot and driving a lot to NOT be entertained to the point where it feels like you are being taken advantage of, then what is the point. If you go see a band in concert that you have followed for decades and are shocked to discover that the band now sucks live are you going to go see them again? How about if you are then told you have to pay an increasingly large fee just for the privilege of purchasing an overpriced ticket? And then what if for sh!ts and giggles you say "what the F, I'm going to see them again, I mean it couldn't be any worse than the last time" only it is, and continues to get worse while the ticket prices continue to grow. And the only venue that the band plays at happens to be this old crappy venue that is an hour away. But wait, the lead guitarist lost his hand in lawnmower accident, but refuses to leave the band, so they now have guitarist who can't play the guitar and the lead singer toasted his vocal chords in an onstage fire blowing stunt gone wrong and can no longer carry a tune to save his life, something he already wasn't very good at to begin with. And the promoter just says F'it, "were gonna just keep going and raise the ticket prices a bit more while we're at it." And for some "shocking" reason, people just decided to stop going, and then several years later they replaced the guitar player and front man with some truly talented musicians, the band was actually pretty good, but the promoter still had them locked into only playing at that crappy old venue, so while the product is now decidedly better, most of the old fans are still quite reluctant to jump back on the bandwagon.
And the Dodgers!!! SERIOUSLY!!! You are going to compare UCLA Football to the Second largest brand in MLB and one of the TOP 20 largest GLOBAL brands in ALL of American sports? They also finished 1st in their Division in 13 out of the past 14 years, with the only exception being a second place finish 2021. They have also won 3 World Series since the start of this decade. Do you see any difference between the Dodgers and UCLA Football?
