That being said, the Democrats can talk about other things too. It's fine to have the outrage of the day or the outrage of the week.
Medicaid cuts, deporting Americans, firing the people in charge of keeping us healthy, etc, are fine. If you only make one story your focus, the media will stop covering it.
Mocking works too. Ask Michael Dukakis how much he enjoyed his tank ride.
The economy will always be a key issue, but there are a lot of day and a lot of issues.
