I am OK with it if:
1) It is given out evenly. White people and rich people get the death penalty for the same crimes as minorities and the poor.
2) Since it is final, it is only used when there is proof to a higher standard than reasonable doubt that the person si guilty.
We don't follow either of these criteria. Statistically it is used far more often on minorities and we have found way too many innocent people on death row.
Other than that, I am kind of nertral on it.
While I am not in favor of cruelty, I don't care too much if the person being executed suffers. We are killing them. If there is a little pain involved, it doesn't upset me. As long as the pain isn't intentional.
