I've adapted my position over time. IMO, the death penalty is legitimate if the person in question is a "master criminal" who can continue to direct and inspire evil even while incarcerated in prison for life with parole. Think Osama Bin Laden, a cartel kingpin, a Mafiosi, a domestic terrorist, etc.
Pike doesn't fit those categorizations.
Pike is the first person to survive lethal injection drugs.
