I can't imagine its higher for firing squad than lethal injection or the electric chair.

As for "cruel and inhumane", again I'm curious how it could be worse than the alternatives.

I don't love it, but some people have it coming. I don't have a problem with imposing it on the merits. The problem of course is that the jury system that gets us to that point is flawed. That gives us the occasional execution of innocent people and hundreds of millions of dollars in capital punishment litigation. Now those are some pretty weighty consequences to be sure, but still, in SOME cases....
