(1) The offensive goal tending that the officials let go on a NC shot at about the 14 minute mark of the first half. The replay showed the ball 100% resting on the rim when the NC guy tipped it in. 2 points that NC "legitimately" shouldn't have had. It was so obvious, I don't see how the officials missed it.
(2)Fourth foul on Bilodeau. Looked like he had solid position with feet set when the guy charged into him. Pretty much the same thing on Clark's 5th foul.
(3) Bilodeau missing 4 of 6 free throws in the final 4 minutes.
(4) Davis 100%, no question, traveling with 22 seconds left but not called. After he finished traveling, they called a foul on the Bruins and he made the free throws.
(5) That careless handling of the ball (with NC pressing) that was thrown in to the very worst place, in the corner to Andrews with 22 seconds left. Andrews casually caught the ball and didn't protect it and it was knocked out of his hands off of his knee out of bounds where NC took over.
(6) Clark's 2 front end misses of 1/1 free throws mid second half.
(7) Johnson not scoring a single point--he usually is good for at least 6 to 8 points.
(8) The 3 lob passes and dunks by Kyle--the guy certainly has some hops---still probably a year away from being a serious impact player--particularly with his bad free throw shooting (looks like a shot put rather than a stroke).
A very disappointing and pretty much self inflicted loss. But one thing that bothers me. I believe I have overestimated the talent of our group of guards (particularly Andrews). They are not quite as good as I thought they would be--at least not yet. It's only going to get tougher starting in about a week with a very good Gonzaga team and then the BIG.
One of Cronin's biggest pre-season misses, IMO, was not getting a strong, physical 6'10 or taller center in the transfer portals that would have allowed Bilodeau to play his natural position of PF. Both Mara and Kyle show promise but I don't believe it's going to fully come this year.
