WHY THIS MATTERS
Monday on Bracket Matrix (BM) here were the 6 and 7 seeds in order
MONDAY TUESDAY
Oregon Oregon
Saint Mary's Saint Mary's
Louisville Louisville
Miss State Miss StateKansas UCLA
UCLA Kansas
Miss Miss
Memphis Memphis
Would we have jumped Kansas if they had won on Monday? It's very unlikely. A win over a likely #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, would have kept them ahead of us and maybe improved their seeding a spot or two.
Games involving other teams matter.
YESTERDAY
Won -- Memphis -8.5 at UTSA
LOST -- Miss St -7.5 vs Texas
Won -- Texas A&M +5.5 vs Auburn
Won -- Oregon -6.5 vs Indiana
Won -- Arizona -17.5 vs Arizona State
As of Tueday's bracket Miss State is the team immeditely ahead of us for seeding. Does a home loss as a solid favorite drop them? We won't know until the updated Bracket Matrix shows up.
Won - Purdue -10.5 vs Rutgers. Not about seeding, but it would be nice to keep the Rutgers loss in Quad 1.
The Rutgers loss is down to a Quad 2 game. They still have a home game against Minnesota that Kenpom sees them as 5-point favorites. I wouldn't mind seeing them win.
Meanwhile our USC win is not barely a Quad 1 win. They have lost 5 straight, so I don't see how their NET ranking has improved. But they are #62 in KenPom and Torvick, so a #75 in the NET isn't too far fetched.
TODAY
Miss +2.5 vs Tennessee.
Missouri, Clemson, Maryland, and Marquette are all #5 seeds at BM, and they are all in action today. I doubt any of those losses will affect us, but it wouldn't hurt if they lost.
USC +7.5 vs Washington. A USC win would help our resume, but NO WAY am I rooting for SC. GO! HUSKIES!
