If Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama football suddenly played their games at SoFi or the Rose Bowl, every single game would be a sellout. Same with Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina for college basketball at Staples or Intuit. Then the same with pro teams playing in LA venues - Niners, Raiders, Cowboys, Yankees, etc. Every SINGLE would sell out.
My theory is it has to do with the fan experience before for these kids who end up attending UCLA. The kids who go to Wisconsin, Ohio State, Texas, Florida, etc most likely grew up in households that cheered hard in PG -13 ways and also cheered hard at the bars when not around kids. So this continues with the kids when they get to college. I mean - just look at the bar scene even in Vegas, San Diego or west LA - it’s still packed with people cheering for those teams and schools, so it’s not like that level of fan doesn’t exist out west to blame on geography.
