style of play, but there are plenty who do. The complaint is often that a slowed down style of play is not entertaining. Having been a player and a coach, I have very little patience with that kind of frame of mind. I understand that plenty of people view sports as entertainment. I guess I do too on some level. But a well played game, regardless of style of play, I find entertaining. I also find a well executing team entertaining regardless of whether it's a Kentucky level team or a Bucknell level team and regardless of who wins.

I don't need high volume music filling every available non playing time. I don't need light shows. I don't need 100+ point games. All I'm looking for is good basketball. When entertainment becomes a required consideration for a coach or a program beyond good winning basketball, then, IMO, we are wandering into dangerous territory. Perhaps I'm not a fan in that respect, but maybe more of a student or appreciator of the game.

I want UCLA to win and I want to know more about the team than any other team, and I guess that makes me a UCLA fan, but not one that requires entertainment beyond, like I said, good basketball. To my mind, even losing isn't that bad as long as good basketball is being played. Maybe I'm in the minority with that kind of thinking.
