For me, I agree with everything you said. For me, I find a discussion of style of play, with regard to anything other than what style of play suits the team, to be anathema.
All that being said, imo, scheduling a bunch of very weak opponents for the home non-con schedule is kind of a slap in the face to season ticket holders and donors. And, if you want to follow a winning program (I do), then disrespecting the season ticket holders is not the way to go.
To that extent, and to that extent alone, providing "entertaining" match-ups at home, is, imo, very important.
