It's a pickup game against NBA quality athletes who can beat other NBA quality athletes off the dribble. It doesn't look like a Cronin defense because it isn't. Pickup games do not include team defense where one gets help as Cronin will teach.
Projected new starters are Petty/Dent and Kusterica/Bilodeau. Not much different from last year so it looks a lot like that Cronin defense except this season he can bring Philon, Robinson and Freeny, all excellent defenders, off the bench.
Just because Perry might be playing PG on offense doesn't mean he would be guarding the opposing PG. Petty can do that.
Just being quick doesn't make one a good defensive player. Court awareness, communication, and positioning are just as important. Some quick players go for steals and get out of position.
