The answer to your first question is yes, I am a lawyer.
And, this is all simple stuff.
"different contract, different facts" Duh. Every contract is different from every other contract. Otherwise it would be the same contract. The sky is blue.
But, some basic, simple principles apply. The Iamaleava brothers were each bound by NIL contracts. Unless one wants to be absolutely silly, we know an NIL contract is for a period of time. Both brothers left the schools to which their NIL contract was attached. Both breached their NIL contract (unless you think that the NIL contract had no continuing obligation on the part of the player, which is ridiculous to say - I'm just trying to make your post make sense. It's hard).
Having breached their contracts by failing to fulfill their ongoing obligation, both would be liable for damages for said breach (unless you think that one or both of the contracts specifically said "you can walk away, scott free" - which is ridiculous, but again, I'm just trying to make what you said make sense. Which is hard)
I said "the buyout should be paid." I don't know what the buyout is. As I said, the article slides between they are demanding to be repaid what they paid and they are demanding the buyout be paid. I'm saying the buyout should be paid. I don't know what the buyout amount is. I didn't say the 200K is the buyout. I said, the buyout, whatever that is, should be paid. I understand that you'd have to pay attention to what I wrote to understand that. But, that's what I wrote.
