the losing end. I don't like the idea of schools "locking in" young guys to multi-year deals. I think many of these guys are not even represented, and I don't like the idea of schools holding lawsuits over guys' heads as a means of controlling them.
There can be any number of legitimate reasons why a kid may want/need to transfer before his contract is up: he doesn't like his position coach, he doesn't like the way staff is handling his injuries/health, he may need to return home to be near a sick family member, he may have been recruited over or lied to in the recruiting process, he may see certain coaching methods as being abusive, he may find the academic opportunities unsatisfactory, he may just hate the location or be homesick, he may be having mental health issues, etc.
I could see high dollar and/or QB contracts being exceptions, but overall I find the idea of longer-term contracts kind of predatory.
On the flip side, I find the concerns over having enough RB's and fans being a little bummed out over roster turnover to be comparatively unimportant.
