Because their base eats it up./
One of the people Trump brought out last night was a girl named Payton McNabb. in 2022 she was 17 playing HS volleyball, a "trans girl" on the other team spiked the ball and it hit her in the face, video available online. She suffered a brain injury, she is still cognitively impaired, it impacts her walking, and she says her dreams of a college scholarship were killed. She's now a Conservative speaker and there's a movie coming out about it. N Carolina banned transgender athletes in junior high and HS after this incident happened.
When her name got leaked to the press they of course all started looking at the story and surprise, there's no actual evidence the girl who spiked the ball was a trans athlete. The state kept records, they registered athletes who were trans and they had a record of 12 girls who became boys and 2 boys who became girls and none of the boys who became girls were in HS, let alone playing volleyball when McNabb's injury happened. It's certainly possible it just got missed she insists her whole team knew the other team had a trans player.
But then her parents sold the movie rights and got paid, and then her former teammates started telling the local media that she was never actually good enough to get a college scholarship, that was embellishment from her parents and her because it helped push her speaking career.
So it's not even clear if her story is true at all beyond she got hit in the face, and suffered a serious injury. But because of the trans athlete angle, nobody seems to care. Nobody had ever really looked into the story until her name popped up as on a list that was going to appear. She may in fact be telling the truth but nobody bothered to check in 2022 because they didn't want to be accused of being insensitive because it was a hot button issue.
