Some comment I heard a couple of months ago gave me a pause in my thinking that the Supreme Court is working for Trump, with the goal of turning him into an imperial president.

The comment was that the Supreme Court was giving him wins on issues that have always been on the conservative agenda, from abortion to restricted voting, to the decimation of federal agencies, to unified executive authority, etc, but then handing them losses on things that were not on their agenda in the pre-Trump years, including the use of the military in the streets, and potentially on tariff powers, etc.

I can see that, but they I also see the decision they made in 2024 that gave Trump immunity on all his official decisions. I also see how they have been giving him leeway in directing funds between agencies, and other things that I am not sure were part of the old school conservative agenda.

I think we all understand that what used to be known as traditional conservatism was very much on this trajectory, leading to the current authoritarian regime, but as far as the Supreme Court is concerned, do you get the impression that they are by and large, mostly implementing their pre-Trump agenda, and anything Trump demands because he has an insatinble appetite for power, they are not on board? (Excluding Thomas and Alito, of course, who are both died in the wool fascists.)
