From a business perspective, Colbert is a huge financial liability for CBS. It’s common practice ahead of a sale for the current ownership to make the tough cost-cutting decisions before handing the company over to new leadership. The problem here is that Paramount, under an incompetent CEO, didn’t leave enough time between the firing and the sale, making the move look rushed and poorly handled.

> Ellison's' buying Paramount is much much more than a business decision. It is a political move.

Is he a Republican? Yes. Will he push the company in that direction? Probably. But it’s more likely he’ll focus on cutting costs—firing a number of news staff and relying on AI to generate content—because it’s cheaper. While the news output may lean conservative, it will likely be diluted, which runs counter to the impact you seem to anticipate.

Keep in mind, these are public companies with multiple stakeholders all focused on profit. Even the acquisition of Warner Brothers involved numerous entities beyond the Ellison's, all expecting a return on their investment.
