This nonsense the Dems did it is a boldfaced lie.
In 2009 Dems needed one more vote to pass the budget, and to get it a Republican senator required they add a bill to create a jungle primary which he and Arnold were pushing. They put it on the ballot, it passed and the state adopted it.
Now because of the current situation not only are the Dems pushing a proposal to get rid of it, Newsom is getting ready in case the GOP gets the top 2 spots. The California legislature would propose a bill to allow vote in candidates for the Governor, which is the only position Califonia doesn't allow write ins. 40 other states have done this, draft it, 2/3 approval which they have, and they'd have it legal for this november.
They would then presumably pick one candidate and tell Dems vote for... possibly Harris I don't think it's been decided yet. Then Dems would be legally allowed to write in that candidate and elect a Dem governor while Republicans scream it's not fair as they gerrymander the whole South
