Background: the philosophy known as The Power of Positive Thinking was developed and/or promoted by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. He officiated at Donald Trump's first wedding, and was one of the three most influential people in Trump's life.
1. Trump's father taught him "You're either a winner or a loser. If you don't win, you've lost."
2. Peale taught Trump to believe in the power of positive thinking (ie, create your own reality and force others to accept it. You can do that if you have enough money.)
3. Roy Cohn was the third major influence on Trump. Among other things, Cohn was a close aid to the noxious Senator Joseph McCarthy. As a lawyer and a fixer for the Trump family, Roy Cohn taught Trump to "Never back down. Never."
Together, those three philosophies form a noxious mix. Toss in a distinct sense of intellectual inferiority and a large inherited fortune... then add a wealthy child predator as your best friend... and you end up with a narcissistic psychopath... who happens to occupy the White House.
