Perhaps to some, post war imperialism doesn't work in that it allows to many players. Where the old, beat them with the stick and make them comply is the best way to go because you have the best stick . . . for now. And in that system, there can only be one top dog.
So Im thinking the old system can't work nowadays due to the world being too connected. And if someone were to implement the destructo method, the world would not stand by. Clearly the response could be a number of type responses, but they would be there.
We had two continents on our side, the post war way. Yes it was contentious, but I think the continents were united. I think the presidents on both sides of our border, think at best the US is an antagonist and possibly not to far from being an enemy.
