Using your methodology the chances of pubs retaining both seats

Is just .4 x .4 = 16% ( 0.16)

The difference between the Democrats gaining both seats and the Republicans retaining either seat is negligible - .36 and .40.

This suggests that you are not analyzing this the right way perhaps?
