He did not, although he should

Instead, he postponed the sentencing hearing to accommodate Trump's attorneys' request to file a motion to dismiss based on the Supreme Court immunity ruling. But I think he only gave them a few weeks to file the papers so we could still see a decision on that before January. I expect he will deny the motion to dismiss. But it appears that Bragg's office's believes sentencing should be delayed 4+ years until after Trump leaves office. Merchan could do that or he could sentence Trump to something less than jail time. Any sentencing would be tied up in the appellate courts for a long time.

While he did not dismiss the case he should, perhaps along with a public apology for allowing this legal farce to get as far as it did. Lawfare backfired big time on Dems, and the two NY cases (one criminal, one civil) were the most egregious examples of Democratic officials manipulating the judicial system for political ends. I'm not even sure Bragg or Merchan want to be associated with this case anymore as the whole point was to prevent Trump from being reelected and not only did they fail but they arguably caused the very result they had hoped to prevent.
