I don’t believe he’s a bad person; rather, I think his emotions have occasionally gotten the better of him. That said, I’ve noticed improvement. As I’ve mentioned before, I do consider him a good coach. My main concern lies with recruiting and roster construction. We’ll need to see how the rest of this season unfolds and, more importantly, what kind of team he can assemble next year.
With that in mind, if I were the Athletic Director, I’d be keeping a close eye on the job market. It would be wise for him to start considering a backup plan as well. There are a few coaches out there who aren’t having great seasons but have strong track records and might be open to making a move.
What might Shaka Smart look like here? I know I'm dreaming on this one, but what about Scott Drew?
