I don't consider many, if any, of those players to be among UCLA's greatest players. Davis I guess.
If greatness had to be extracted or developed by a coach, Lavin wasn't the guy. But, to be fair, there probably wasn't a guy because Cotton really wasn't that good. He didn't even get drafted and he never got close to making the NBA.
If your post had said "He could have been a pretty good player at UCLA", then ok. But if you really meant he could have been a UCLA great and just got derailed by the NCAA, then, no. I don't see how.
