That's the largest in the US as far as I can tell. The Athletic Department deficit is virtually a rounding error.
Athletics is also the #1 marketing effort of the school. Any claim of a lack of systematic evidence that athletics benefits the academic mission of the university means only the person making the claim wasn't trying.
I'm sympathetic to the impact the loss of federal funding has had on many at UCLA, but blaming the Athletic Department is just trying to change whose ox is gored.
