Absolutely no body has control over anything. There is this supposed you can not pay players to play for your program. Apparently there is a way they can do stipends. Somehow this comes from the university. Then there is NIL. Am I missing something? I'm paying someone for his Name, Image, and/or Likeness. That is supposed to be like I'm paying someone to do advertising for me. But somehow, NIL sure appears to be I'm now paying someone to play for the university that is completely separate from the school playing them.
There sure appears to be no oversight and a player can basically leave anytime they want. At least with the NFL, there is ownership, players' union, contracts. No one can just quit without a repercussion. And you finish out the season and post season. NIL in the NFL IS/ARE endorsements outside of the organization. This is so far beyond the Wild West that it just gets more comedic.
