It's really the fans who need to overcome the decades of mediocrity and apathy.
These players don't give a d@mn what Chip Kelly did, as few ever played for him. A lot of these guys never even knew Foster, much less the parade of bad coaches we had before those two. While the long-time UCLA fan bites his nails after a fumble at Maryland and thinks here-we-go-again, I don't think that's what this team is thinking.
Like you said, when we've seen a change in culture (Mora, Chesney) it was immediate and dramatic.
I don't intend to suggest that 7-5 is not a realistic possibility, only that such a record portends good things for the future. 7-5 after starting 4-0 is a mild failure.
