I know the town pretty well. It's far from the hellhole that Fox News would make you believe. And I wouldn't call MAMA "downtown." It's in the Lake Merritt neighborhood, on Grand Avenue. It's the "real Oakland", where folks take their kids for BBQs on the weekend.
