in the second half that was more suitable for his game. That sideline to sideline dribbling and passing offense they were running just wasn't giving him the openings that he could get from high pick and roll offense (with the ball in his hands most of the time) that they focused on in the second half and resulted in him scoring 20 points in the half and keeping the Bruins in the game until the last few minutes.
One important thing though. With all the driving he does and potential fouls drawn (leads the team in FT attempts), he must improve his free throw shooting which for him as a PG, is currently a very poor 62.9%. I have no doubt that in some of the future games, his performance at the line could be the difference between losing and winning a game or so.
Although I wouldn't classify him as a "pure shooter", his FT stroke looks fine and he was a reasonably good free throw shooter last year in the low 70% range. IMO, his current erratic FT shooting is more related to wavering confidence and lack of 100% focus at the line more than anything else. I always like to see a PG who gets to the line a lot have the capability to shoot at least 80% from the FT line. Doesn't always happen though.
