Cori's interesting recruiting trend

Some here will undoubtably be critical of this, but I'm just pointing out an interesting trend in Cori's recruiting. No reason is implied and I have no problem with any of her current recruits.

This past season, there was only one Black player on the team, Kiki Rice. The Betts sisters and Gardiner are of mixed race. It is unknown how they identify themselves. But Rice is an atypical example because she comes from an elite Ivy League educated family.

Our current high school commits and transfers are Ginny Anne Dumont, Bonnie Deas, Elina Aarnisalo and Donovyn Hunter. All white except Hunter who is mixed. There is a Nigerian by way of Spain coming, but she isn't an American.

We're not saying Close doesn't recruit Black players. She's had plenty in the past. It's not like former volleyball coach Mike Sealy who went almost a decade without signing any Black HS players. She will probably bring some in with more of the transfers. But right now, it's just unusual that a team would have no American Black athletes, the source of so many players in college basketball.

So why is this important? It's not, just a point of interest.
