Blackwell?
Cronin whiffed on just another of a long line of top recruits and transfers. The only bullet in his gun is UCLA.
It didn't take much to convince Blackwell to commit to Duke.
Actually, UCLA convinced Blackwell to commit to Duke. It's due to what's happening with UCLA Basketball program which is convincing the likes of Blackwell and other elite players not to commit to UCLA.
All that the other coaches have to do is:
1. Show videos of a half-full Pauley during the season.
2. Show videos of Cronin screaming, demeaning, and embarrassing players during games for the world to see.
3. Show videos of a stagnant, bend but don't break offense that too often shoot with minimal seconds left on the clock because the offense is offensive.
We all too often see our beloved Bruins with our hearts rather than our heads. Same goes for our coach who has great difficulty closing the deal like the high school senior who asks the prom queen to the prom only to be rejected and settle for another date who is a more realistic choice but thinks he could and should get the best because he attends a prestigious school.
Cronin is the fisherman who simply can't reel in the big fish from an expansive ocean. So he has to move over to a smaller pond and settle for the biggest fish he hopes to find there. And as time goes by, the smaller pond will continue to evaporate.
