If we stipulate that you don't know Chip, have never met him nor discussed his career with him, you have absolutely no idea why he did what he did. Your post is imaginary thinking.
When Morgan Center tried to finesse his buyout in December 2023 instead of firing him and paying it to him, Chip started looking around. As any sane person would. Morgan Center saved their buyout and lost a talented football man.
The whole episode played out in accordance with the bungling of Morgan Center, not Chip.
I don't know what we have in Foster so I'm withholding forming any opinions of him, but I think I can say he is the lowest energy coach I can recall at Ucla, even lower energy than Dorrell. I don't know what that will mean for the program, but that one characteristic looks obvious so far.
The Ucla football program is held down and back by the incompetence of bankrupt Morgan Center and its staff of government service employees. Until that changes, until we get talented leadership, carping about the coach is just baying at the moon.
