My theory here is between the Epstein files and Trumps dementia, the people who are behind him are afraid he may not make it as long as they wanted, so Vance can serve 2 full terms post replacing Trump. So the SC is stepping up their attempts now to put their whole hand, not just the thumb, on the scale to try and boost the GOP.

They're giving him as much power as they can now so when he is gone, Vance has that power.
