august 6 1997 in Guam Korean air flight 801 was in severe weather attempting to land. They were in heavy wind and rain and the pilot of the plane, an older guy, misjudged and was heading directly for a mountain called Nimitz Hill. The co pilot and others knew they were in danger but due to Korean culture they were afraid to tell the pilot to pull up he was going to hit the mountain. They knew what was going on and eventually per recordings from the cockpit the co pilot took over and attempted to avoid the mountain, but it was too late they hit and 229 of the 254 people on board died.
