We apparently bullied Venezuela into signing over a big chunk of their oil in a 100 year lease because Trump is so desperate to get gas prices down. Experts are mixed on if it will actually do that soon since they're nowhere near ready to start extracting and refining it and it will only in theory benefit the US so it won't impact the global oil market much.
Trump calls it the greatest oil deal in history and in theory it does help the long term supply for the US but at the cost of becoming a rogue pirate nation that used military force to seize assets from another country.
I am guessing the next step is my prediction from before where Maduro "confesses" that they rigged the election in 2020
