I wouldn't worry about Cox. I thought he looked great in that one carry and also looked good the few times we saw him last year. I expect he will play a big role next year.
I remember there was a poster here who claimed that Foster transformed Texas Tech's running game in the one year he was there, which was a real stretch to begin with as a mere 1st-year RB coach and also impossible given that they had a poor rushing attack that year. But people can make themselves believe what they want to believe.
I saw the post referenced in your last line and had to pass on it. I don't know how good or bad a technical RB coach Foster was (I suspect nothing special, but maybe not bad since he was offered an NFL job as a RB coach) but the idea that he could add anything to a Bob Chesney-coached team seems pretty ludicrous.
Foster lacked energy, personality, was not known as a hard charging recruiter, and was just kind of a paranoid, aloof guy. I don't think Chesney would hire him to mop the floor, much less to coach his RB's.
It's not like Chesney doesn't know RB's. Was that Cox fumble the only one by a UCLA RB this year? The guy is #5 on the depth chart. And if you watch Jams Madison, Chesney left behind a pretty good RB, George Pettaway.
I think we're going to be ok without Deshaun. Incidentally, Foster is now coaching in the high school ranks.
