Frankly even mediocre teams need and deserve support. The LA fan base, just going by the excuses offered, is a pretty fickle lot. Win, then win again, and maybe then we'll show up if the opponent is right, game time is right, the weather is right, I don't have to drive too far, and it's the right day of the week. That's weak! Didn't work for the greatest run in college basketball history. Even during that glorious run Pauley was often not full - close, but still empty seats. What was it, 1,500 folks in a 14,000 seat arena? Fans couldn't be bothered because the program hasn't won enough games and haven't won a national championship in a long time.
Now there's a nationally ranked football team and one of only two (I believe) undefeated teams in the nation. 25,000 folks show up leaving somewhere around 40,000 empty seats because even though they are winning right now they haven't won like this in multiple years. Well, we'll support them next year maybe, if they win enough games, maybe. Either the fans care and support the team they profess to root for or they don't. In LA it's mostly don't. Weak, weak, weak!
