Thinking about if we had hired Jedd Fisch back in 2017...

...when Chip Kelly was available and interested!

The fanbase would've been in an uproar, saying we settled on another mediocre hire, someone who was never a head coach, only hired because he won a bowl game, the easy way out, etc.

And that would've been the right assessment at the time!

Not dissimilar to if we hired Jim Harbaugh in 2007 - he'd be slammed as a position coach, a cut-rate hire riding his brother's coattails.

All this is to say: This stuff ain't easy, and nothing is assured.
