It's hyperbole that sets up Foster as glittering hero and Kelly as evil ogre. Inevitably, reality will arrive and Foster will not be hero when it does. The hype then will have to pull him down a notch or two. Depending upon his early results, this could get extreme, perhaps even turning him into evil ogre.
This tipping of fans' assessments of their program induces volatility in their participation, ie, going to games, making donations. When Morgan Center sees this revenue swing, they get triggered and believe they need to do something. Often, they don't. But they will do something dumb anyway.
In the next iteration of the cycle, they may be looking to dump Foster in 2027 when that is completely unnecessary and even harmful. But the swings in their financial results will compel them to act.
The net effect of this hype is that it exposes the program to a greater liklihood of stupid decision making. We already get enough of that. See Dan Guerrero. The hype cycle is a partial cause of us spinning our wheels every 5 years. Not needed.
