I am not going to jump to conclusions.
BUT......
1. He had a scan done. Could possibly be a CT or PET scan as when he talked about the scan he motioned in and out. MRI's don't go in and out. CT and PET scans go in and out.
2. They can give him chemo through his hand.
3. Chemo can cause balance problems as a side effect. That would explain him wobbling all over the place.
4. That would also explain his dosing off at weird times. Chemo also can cause that.
Of course he can just be an old fart with dementia. But you don't need IV injections for that.
One thing for certain, he is not in tip top physical shape like his doctors are saying. that is for sure. So if they aren't going to be truthful, we have to speculate.
